Things NOT to do at prom
1. Don't wait to ask your prom date. No matter if the prom is 1 month away or 3 months away, ask your potential date out as soon as you are sure of it. It's better to have that person accept or deny your invitation so that you are sure of things and can start planning. Ladies, don't feel that you have to wait and be asked out! If you want a particular date, go ahead and ask that special someone.
2. Don't make a bad color choice. We talk a lot about color and how it's a good idea to go bright with your dress. There are, however, limitations. The most important thing is to make sure to pick the right color for you skin. It is by complementing your skin tone that the rest of your hard work and decisions will glow. Your prom pictures will also turn out great!
3. Length matters. Although this season is all about showing some leg, it isn't about having too high of a skirt or ending up with too long of a skirt. Make sure that you are comfortable with the length of your dress and take into consideration the height of your heels. It is better to get a dress that is longer than you like so that you may make alterations if need be.
4. Don't forget to accessorize. Accessories can definitely make your prom look completely stunning! It's your night to shine and here is your chance to do so. Do it with either earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, a hair piece, etc. Remember to not over do it, but have just enough to make yourself feel Hollywood glamorous.
5. Don't fight your locks. You know how it goes. Those who have curly hair want it straight and those that have straight hair want it curly. Not matter if yours is naturally curly or straight, you should style your hair accordingly. Since you can't mess with mother nature, why not enhance it?
6. Don't over style. Whether it be your hair or the choice of your dress and accessories, don't over do it. Too much of a good thing can turn bad. It may be important to you to be trendy and we agree, but having too many trends for one night out can be too much. Rather, pick one or two of your favorite spring trends and from there create a look of your own.
7. Don't forget your manners. Whether you want to believe it or not, manners and etiquette are highly important when it comes to prom and other social events of the such. You don't want to come across as rude or inconsiderate of others feelings. Most manners are common sense and are already instilled in you. If you are known for not being the most polite or orderly date, please review over a list of what to do and what not to do in a social outing.
8. Don't create prom drama. Prom does have its drawbacks and drama is one of its greatest. With prom, drama arises from dress to date choices and everywhere in-between. Don't be the one to stress it! If things really do get bad for you or your feelings get hurt, take a break and literally get some fresh air. Things will work out in the end even if they turn out to be completely different than imagined. You surely don't want to be remembered as the "drama momma" from prom 2007!
9. Don't be late! Prom night is definitely a night that everyone tends to get carried away with. Not that those involved shouldn't be excited, but time is a concern that needs to be number one. All that hard work to get a schedule ready shouldn't go to waste. Get to your location 10-15 minutes ahead of time. You don't want to cause the rest of your prom group to wait on you and you surely don't want to be left behind.
10. Don't do anything last minute. It's easy to become pressured into making ourselves think that if we just added something extra or redid some of our makeup that it will be absolutely perfect. Stop before you start to do this! Most likely you already look in tip-top shape and don't need to fix anything, especially if time is an issue. Since we know our bodies and see ourselves in the mirror everyday, it is common for us to think we don't look our absolute best because we know what that looks like. This doesn't mean that other people don't think that you aren't already gorgeous. By making last minute changes, things tend to go array and disasters are born. This is something you want to avoid.
